Cyclone Gaja

The aftermath of the Gaja Cyclone has left Nagapattinam, Thanjavur, Thiruvarur, Cuddalore, Pudukkottai and Ramanathapuram districts very badly damaged. The coir industry is one of the most affected. We as Ethamozhy Coir Cluster plan to send some relief material in a separate vehicle.

What we are interested to send:

1. Any discarded roofing sheets/materials for temporary sheds. Even old flex banners will be helpful.
2. Chain Saws to cut trees and to clear them off
3. Rice, Biscuits, Drinking Water and Packaged Foods
4. Blankets, Nighties, Lungies, towels etc
5. Mosquito coils, candles and matches

Many of these items seem to be in short supply in these districts at present.

We are doing these activities together with Coir Board, Govt. of India. Materials collected by us will be distributed by Coir Board. Mr. Gurusamy Poopalan, Regional Officer, Coir Board, Pollachi is stationed in the cyclone affected area coordinating the relief efforts.

We are interested to send few volunteers with knowledge of cutting trees along with chain saws.

You can call us at +91 4652 253727, 253827 or +91 8248622124 or email us at info@ethamozhycoirs.com
